What Is Long-Term Care?
Long-Term Care: What Is It?
When you are unable to do activities of daily living (ADLs) on your own, you may require care or support that is collectively referred to as long-term care. Bathing, dressing, eating, and using the restroom are examples of ADLs.
Oftentimes, long-term care just entails having someone assist with your evening and morning preparations. In other situations, it may entail going into a nursing home to manage a chronic condition or recuperate after a fall. When using long-term care services, those 65 and older often need care for up to four years. Of seniors, just 20% will require it for more than five years.
